THE FIRST SUMMER…
betchadupa are
four sixteen year olds based in Auckland who have just released their
debut self titled six track EP through Flying Nun Records.
The summer of 2000 is their first together…
The seeds for betchadupa were
planted in the early days of 1996 when Liam & Matt met and wrote their
first song whilst on holidays at "The Mount" (Mount Maunganui).
It took three years for Matt to convince his family to relocate to
Auckland from Sydney. The time was not wasted though. Liam recruited Joe
Bramley on bass and Chris Garland on guitar. They all got together to
write and record when holidays allowed and it quickly became obvious that
Liam’s talent as a writer and the skills of these young musicians would
soon be noticed. For these sessions the band was called Lazy Boy.
