Blockhead's 2004 Ninja Tune debut, ‘Music by Cavelight’ isn’t just a collection of drum machine sketches. This album is fleshed out, multi-layered, and structurally stacked. An obvious comparison would be DJ Shadow’s high-watermark debut ‘Endtroducing…..’ - both share a noir-ish vision, favour teetering build-ups, and have a hypnotic sensibility which looks to trip-hop.
