Bleeding Star are a young Te Whanganui-a-Tara band named after a particular song and album released by a Ōtautahi band via Flying Nun Records, in 1993. Yep, I'm sure you guessed the original band. They were named after a rather famous French existentialist. Anyway, Bleeding Star's music certainly has traces of their namesakes song and album, but with their own refreshing take. In this What Was That Thing? session they ask an interesting question - Why Do Parties Have to Be So Loud?
