And the tour announcements continue! Today, black midi have announced that they will be hitting Aotearoa's shores for the first time next March to kick off their Australasian tour, playing at the iconic Hollywood Avondale theatre in Tāmaki Makaurau on March 26th.
Living in a space that defies the norms of genre, black midi's experimentation has been compared to almost everybody, from 100 gecs to Nine Inch Nails, in an attempt to pin them down to something. The truth is, their music can't really be put in a box; they unleash it into the world as its own formidable creature that sometimes screams, sometimes mutters, thrills and soars. And that's what makes it so great.
Over the course of the band's life, they have released three albums, exploring themes within math-rock, avant jazz, krautrock, folk and metal. Their latest album, Hellfire, dabbled in gruelling themes of war and afterlife, personifying tales of a traumatised soldier and a deranged murderer throughout a 10-track whirlwind of sound.
