Fuzzy has a new home. Or, more accurately, two new homes.
As I alluded to in my previous post, Flying Nun has been on the move.
Up in Auckland (New Zealand) Hariet Ellis (Label Manager and A&R) will be overseeing operations for the Flying Nun out of The Label offices located in High St - in the central city. The Label is New Zealand’s leading music Publicity and Promotions agency, working with many international labels (4AD, Beggars, Matador and more) as well as local artists like Reb Fountain, Tiny Ruins and numerous others.
Meanwhile, the Flying Nun distribution and online retail have moved south, into some new premises. These are located at 154a Riddiford St, Newtown, Wellington. Both Roger Shepherd and myself live in Wellington, so this makes sense. Additionally, the new base enables Roger to fully indulge his passion for cardboard boxes.
At this stage the plan is to use the new Wellington location primarily for online sales and stocking the shops. However, as it is a nice spot, and Newtown is a vibrant part of the city, early next year we will probably create a small Flying Nun retail outlet. This will be open for limited hours. That means we can hang out, play records and people can drop in for a coffee.
Below is a short tour of the new Wellington premises and the neighbourhood.
