GARETH THOMAS ADDRESSES SELFIE CULTURE ON NEW TRACK

Featuring a singing baseline, bouncy guitar strum and kooky vocal effects, the song’s musical style was inspired by Lou Reed, the rawness of The Clean and the quirkiness of Devendra Banhart.
GARETH THOMAS ADDRESSES SELFIE CULTURE ON NEW TRACK

News

The news is written by a mysterious person. Maybe Wendy Broccoli.

With tongue firmly in cheek and a nod to the infamous fifteen minutes of fame, Gareth Thomas observes selfie culture through his new song, Cyber Star. "These days, to go viral is an ambition, to be famous-for-being-famous is an aspiration and whole careers are forged from social media accounts.” Check it out here:

Perhaps nothing has more viral potential than a cute cat, and fittingly Cyber Star features a feline cameo from none other than Zoey the musical cat. “Our lovely little musical cat Zoey started singing while I was at home mixing the track. She has now become immortalised in the third verse, may her singing live forever in cyberspace. R.I.P. Zoey.”

Returning to his Goodshirt D.I.Y recording style, Gareth recorded this track at home on an old Moog synthesiser, an acoustic guitar and an electric drum kit. It's the third single from his upcoming album BITS, following on from Wake Up! and My Dog. BITS is planned for release later this year - keep an eye out for it!
