No Romance are a band based in Berlin with connections to New Zealand, who make "synthy guitar music." Last Friday they released their excellent debut EP, Unfold. Listen to it here:
The band are a mixture of nationalities (two Kiwis and a Brit) who take a collaborative approach to their songwriting, bringing their varied backgrounds together into their music. Speaking to May Magazine, drummer Isaac Hickey commented that "It’s very democratic, which is a good thing but it means that things sometimes take ages to finish because we obsess about ironing out the creases and making sure everyone is happy with it. It’s an approach I like a lot though, because I feel like everybody’s different tastes and ideas are represented in the music." When it came to post-production, Unfold was produced by Nick Roughan of Skeptics fame (who also provided additional synths and bass) and mastered by Amelia Berry of Amamelia et al.
Unfold is available to stream everywhere, and for purchase over on bandcamp.
