Visions of Ovid is the third album from Portland, Oregon folk artist Brandon De La Cruz. This album interprets tales from a range of spirits in Greek mythology. From Tiresias lamenting the strife of life as a woman who once was a man and reverts once again, to Alcmene depicting the sacrifice of her nurse Galanthis to permit the birth of Hercules, the metamorphic thread unifying these songs is the same that joins Ovid’s tellings — through trials often culminating in loss and confusion, spirits transform to find new life in a shifting world.
