Daniel Lopatin (aka Oneohtrix Point Never) - Marty Supreme OST (Vinyl)
Few films from the past year are as intense and inexhaustible as Marty Supreme, the latest project from director Josh Safdie. Arriving in tandem with the movie is the score for the film, Marty Supreme (OST), a collection of 23 tracks from electronic producer Daniel Lopatin.
Lopatin, better known for his work as Oneohtrix Point Never, has crafted progressive compositions to accompany Josh and Benny Safdie’s productions since 2017’s Good Time. The intense soundtrack for the on-the-run thriller was Lopatin’s first attempt at a film score. Their partnership continued with Uncut Gems, released in 2021, where Lopatin introduced even more tension and undercurrent to the anxious world that these characters lived in. The soundtrack’s grittiness and cinematic scope was noted as a highlight of the film.
Lopatin's work often taps into the minds of unsettled men frantically sprinting from one goal point to the next. On this latest offering, Marty Supreme, Lopatin offers a finely tuned vision of the titular character’s haywire lifestyle while delivering some of his most abstract and cinematic arrangements yet. www.tastemakersmag.com
