King Tubby Meets The Upsetter – At The Grass Roots Of Dub (Vinyl)
Winston Edwards' seminal dub album was produced in 1974, after he left Jamaica to reside in the UK. Edwards had strong connections with reggae luminaries like Joe Gibbs, Lee Perry, and King Tubby, and used these connections to travel back and forth between London and Kingston to bring back recordings for release on his Fay Music label in the UK.
The resulting album is considered a classic early Tubby's dub album, and is known for its musical, tuneful, and seriously heavy dub sound, with Vin Gordon's unique trombone lines prominently featured.
