From humble beginnings in a cold Upper Riccarton garage during the first Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, where the cornerstone was set for their influence of music; haunting melodies, introspective lyrics, and powerful instrumentation. The band’s recent surge in popularity on New Zealand’s student radio stations and streaming platforms underscores their growing influence within the local scene. 

Lunar Intruder debut album embraces the influences of 'dream rock', which delves into the complexities of transformation and self-acceptance. Guitarist and singer Cameron Buyers, alongside bassist Matt Genet, lead guitarist Angus Mossman, rhythm guitarist Sam Shore, and drummer Ricki Allan, collectively share tat Smokechasers, "is about going through the motions of changing as a person and learning to accept and resist fighting the person you are becoming as there’s more to our lives that we haven’t experienced yet.”
