The Exploited - Troops Of Tomorrow (Vinyl)
Well, what can I say about this album. It's the best The Exploited release. Ever. Also it's quite possibly one of the best punk albums ever made. Troops Of Tomorrow is also the album famous for coining the term UK82. (the song bearing that name is on the album).
Compared to previous late-seventies punk UK 82 bands tended to be faster and more aggressive and lyrically much darker and more violent, focusing on nuclear holocaust, Cold War, unemployment and of course the policies of the British Conservative Party.
The album managed to maintain the raw and angry vibe of their earlier "Punks Not Dead" album but gave this some extra depth and a damn good production to go with it. Quite possibly even their best produced release during the eighties. The sound is crystal clear yet vile, heavy and punk. All instruments are not just easily identifiable and audible but also sound great on their own. Not too heavy, not too thin, Just perfect. (Metal Archives)
