George Herbert Evelyn – better known as DJ E.A.S.E., and the founder of Nightmares on Wax – is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of his In a Space Outta Sound album in grand fashion; handing over the master tapes to producer extraordinaire Adrian Sherwood, the forthcoming In a Space Outta Dub presents a stylistic merger of the latter’s psychedelic dub with Evelyn’s downtempo brand of trip-hop.
Originally produced by Evelyn with Robin Taylor-Firth, Mozez, and Dubble D, In a Space Outta Sound was informed by reggae and sound system roots, providing a groundwork for Sherwood to transform and reimagine the material in his own syle. Furthermore, In a Space Outta Dub features instrumental contributions from bassist Doug Wimbish (Living Colour, Tackhead), guitarist Mark Bandola (Ausgang), keyboardist Cyrus Richards (Rasites), trumpeter Dave Fulwood (Abassi All Stars), percussionist Ian Powell, and more.
