AVANTDALE BOWLING CLUB | BAND
Avantdale Bowling Club is a musical project led by Tom Scott, a rapper and musician from Auckland, New Zealand. Scott first gained recognition as part of the hip hop group Home Brew, before pursuing a more experimental and jazz-infused direction with Avantdale Bowling Club. The group's self-titled debut album, released in 2018, combined elements of hip hop, jazz, and spoken word, addressing themes such as personal struggle, societal issues, and fatherhood. The album earned critical acclaim, winning Album of the Year at the 2019 Aotearoa Music Awards. In 2023 Avantdale Bowling Club released the album Trees.
Scott's role as bandleader has been marked by his commitment to live instrumentation and collaborative composition, distinguishing Avantdale Bowling Club within New Zealand's music landscape.
Both Avantdale Bowling Club albums are released on their own record label called Years Gone By - when available we stock these records on vinyl and CD in all the Flying Nun record stores - Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
