The 90’s saw the electronic sounds of Chicago house and Detroit techno push the dance culture explosion, while at the same time in the UK, Chill and IDM developed, pioneered by artists such as Autechre,Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin, offering a ‘sit down and listen’ alternative to the dance floor.
