FAT FREDDY'S DROP | BAND

Fat Freddy's Drop is a seven-piece band from Wellington, New Zealand, known for their unique blend of dub, reggae, soul, jazz, and electronic music. Formed in the late 1990s, the band gained international recognition with their debut studio album Based on a True Story (2005), which became a multi-platinum success in New Zealand. Subsequent albums, including Dr Boondigga and the Big BW (2009), Blackbird (2013), and Bays (2015), continued to showcase their eclectic style and live improvisational performances. 

The members of Fat Freddy's Drop have engaged in various other musical projects outside the group. Vocalist Dallas Tamaira (also known as Joe Dukie) has been involved in collaborations across genres, while producer and DJ Chris Faiumu (DJ Fitchie) has contributed to other electronic music ventures. 

Fat Freddy's Drop release all their albums under their own independent label called FFD. When they are available, we stock their albums on vinyl and CD in the Flying Nun Record stores, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
