Broadcast's B-sides and rarities compilation, The Future Crayon, contains 18 previously-released (although not always easy-to-find) tracks and reveals a side to Broadcast rarely heard: that of a band who are relaxed, at play and in places almost carefree.

The 18 cuts here showcase the groundbreaking group’s brand of eerie yet pretty electro-acoustic pop as well as any of their three studio albums - in fact, The Future Crayon holds together so well it is difficult to tell that it is actually a compilation.

For interested uninitiateds The Future Crayon should be a no-brainer, as it's a great introduction to the wide range of sounds that Broadcast works with. For those already converted, while some of the tracks may be familiar from EPs and singles, the rarities alone are worth the price of admission.
