Ebo Taylor is one of Ghanaʼs finest producer/arrangers and has been a vital figure on the Ghanaian music scene for over six decades. In 1962, Taylor took his own group, the Black Star Highlife Band, to London, which led to collaborations with Fela Kuti as well as other African musicians in Britain at the time.
Taylor was heavily influential in the unique sound that emerged from the country in the 70’s; a combination of traditional Ghanaian with Afro-beat, jazz, and funk rhythms.
Continuing the Classic African Recordings series, Mr Bongo have reissued two long out of print recordings that capture the artist in his prime in the late 1970s and early 80s; his self-titled 1977 album and also 1980’s Conflict Nkru! with Uhuru Yenzu.
