Esoteric Surf Trash….” focuses on the manifestations & incarnations of TAPE DUDE, from teenage scramblings to haunted abodes, other astral planes & lupine fusion. TAPEMAN, TAPEMAN & the TAPEMEN, GHOST OF TAPEMAN, PLANET OF THE TAPES, LIGHTNIN’ TAPE WOLF, TAPE WOLVES & HOUSE ON THE HAUNTED HILL. To boil it down to a singular style Is a woeful short sell, but to do so, think the Ventures dynamic surf twang, twist & drive paired to the gutteral fuzz fried sonics howl & growl of Link Wray at his most primal, all recorded in lush lo-fi settings. A history of Tape manic mania. And most probably the finest surf LP to ever, yes ever, come out of Aotearoa."
To celebrate, the enigmatic garage rock aficionados The Tape Wolves have dropped a sly new single titled Mysterio. The sub-two minute track is full of fuzzed-out, ominous sounding minor guitar chords, and is certainly something you might expect to be featured on album titled Esoteric Surf Trash, which is the group’s second full-length LP.
