The sound of Holly Arrowsmith's voice receives a warm reunion with our ears. 'Desert Dove' is her first music in just over two years, since the release of her Christmas song 'All My Lucky Stars Are Gone', but it has been almost 5 years since her spellbinding album A Dawn I Remember, which earned worldwide praise. 'Desert Dove' spins a tender, homegrown sentiment into a warm, alt-country ballad, Arrowsmith's voice guiding its flow with sweet, subtle tones.
“In Tucson, Arizona my Grandfather fed the birds every morning." Holly says of the song. "There was a dove that would wake me while I was visiting, mournful and resolute in its song. When he died, I heard that same dove in New Zealand and it filled me with a sense of him. It is a song about distance, loss and grief, and finding courage in the face of these things.”
Recorded and produced by Thomas Healy (Tiny Ruins, Marlon Williams), 'Desert Dove' is set against a dream-like visual backdrop directed by Robyn Jordaan and shot by Si Moore.
