P.H.F. ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM: 'PUREST HELL'

News

The news is written by a mysterious person. Maybe Wendy Broccoli.

P.H.F, the musical moniker of producer and songwriter Joe Locke, has announced they have a new album on the way, named Purest Hell. They crowned this news with a new single and video compiled entirely from stock footage. Check out SABBATH SHIRT (ft. fantasyluv) here:

Purest Hell stands as a love letter to Locke’s close friend and essential collaborator Reuben Winter (milk, Totems) who passed away in September 2020. Expanding on the genre-bending ambition of P.H.F.'s previous album New Metal, Locke uses musical experimentation as a way to process grief, incorporating shredding guitar, careening breakbeat chops, and heavy electronics as a way of paying tribute to, and feeling closer to Winter. While tracks like Skincare and A Letter From Purest Hell draw power from a deep and impactful sense of loss, the album is more than just an elegy – it's a celebration of life of a beloved friend and musical innovator.

Purest Hell is out on May 27th via Danger Collective Records, and available for pre-order here from the Flying Nun shop.
